Wyandot County Vietnam Traveling Wall Foundation
Announces plans for a 2nd monument in memory of Wyandot County's veterans from the Korean War.
Saturday, July 26th and Sunday July 27th, 2008
Activities kick-off 9:00am Sat. July 26th at Thiel's Wheels in Upper Sandusky, OH on Tarhe Trail
Opening Ceremonies with Posting of the Colors, OH Motor Pool featuring all branches of the military, concessions, raffle for Henry 22 Cal. Lever Action Golden Boy Riffle and Olympus Digital Camera, Chained Eagles with their Ohio Wall for a Tribute to MIA's and Iraq Freedom Wall will be on display.
Sun. July 27th includes a motorcycle ride, registration beginning at 9:00am beginning from Thiel's Wheels, Tarhe Trail, Upper Sandusky, OH. After returning from ride at 2:30pm, Chained Eagles will have the closing program.
Throughout the event the National Guard, Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard will be bringing in various displays

The Korean War dates from June 25, 1950 through July 27, 1953. These are considered to be the war’s actual "hot" dates, which will be placed on the wall. The board of the Vietnam Traveling Wall Foundation is currently identifying Veterans, who served from Wyandot County so their names can be placed on the monument just as the Wyandot County Vietnam Veterans’ names were place on the Vietnam Monument in 2006. All names submitted will be verified for authenticity, as will the dates of service. Anyone, having served through the Korean War or having a family member who served, is asked to complete the form, which can be printed form www.udata.com/thewall/index.html, and forward it to Tom Eyestone, 116 E. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316. Also any Wyandot County Vietnam War and/or Vietnam Era veteran, whose name is not already included on the Wyandot County Vietnam Memorial Monument, should complete the form and forward it as indicated.

The Blood Service region of the American Red Cross that includes Wyandot County has reported a shortage of blood,
which means that unexpected demands on their supply may be difficult to meet without additional donors willing to come forward.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, and weigh between 110-350 lbs. Donors can give every 56 days. Keep in mind that you should not donate if you have had a cold or the flu, have had a heart attack or stroke within in 6 months to 1 year, or have received in the past year a tatoo or blood transfusion. People donating are encouraged to eat iron rich foods at least 3 days prior and to eat something before donating.
Donating blood is easy and only takes about an hour of your time.

East Elementary Recycling
East Elementary School at 401 North 3rd St. in Upper Sandusky will sponsor it's monthly recycling drive the 2nd Saturday of each month from 8:30 - 11:00 am.
Items most needed, according to school officials, are clean gallon milk jugs and aluminum cans. Accepted as donations are clean glass container and steel cans, newspapers and cardboard.
