Advent Mary and Joseph Banner

This banner  is made on purple upholstery, the color for Advent. Purple here symbolizing humility and penitence.
Joseph and Mary were in Nazareth when the emperor of Rome commanded everyone to go to the town of their family  and  have their names registered.  Out from Nazareth a company of people started south.   In that company were Mary and Joseph who were both of the family of David , and they were headed to Bethlehem.  The road south led through the country of Samaria, then over the hills of Judah into Jerusalem.  Joseph and Mary went further south until they came to Bethlehem.  Luke 2: 1-39.
The scene of Joseph leading Mary on a donkey is a night scene.  The hills of Judah are in the background.  The figures are  done in black and dark brown to suggest a silhouette form of Mary and Joseph traveling at night.  The five pointed star, made of gold metallic material, is frequently associated with the nativity, representing the coming Messiah.  Gold spray glitter was used around the star and rhine stones suggest the many stars in the sky.  Also symbolizing God's promise to Abraham that I will give you many descendents as there are stars in the sky.  Gen. 22:17.
This banner is finished with gold fringe.
