North Salem Church Council

North Salem Church Council met on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:00 pm. Those
attending were Paul Baum, Carolyn Fruth, Beth McDermott, June Eier, Rodney
Lieb, Darlene Mooney, Michelle Conley, Bill Schmidt Dennis Kimmel, Merle
Goodman and Pastor Andrea. Those unable to attend were Denise Orwick and
Lyle Weaver. Denny gave devotions entitled “If Anyone Lacks Wisdom”.
The minutes from the September meeting were read. A motion to approve
the minutes was made by Bill and seconded by Rodney. Motion carried. Michelle
gave the Treasurer’s report. Income was $4899.84 and expenses were $10058.00.
Taxes that were paid pushed the expenses up. Merle made motion to accept
with Carolyn seconding it. Motion carried. Rodney gave the memorial/building
fund report plus the Kenneth Kimmel Scholarship Fund naming those who received
awards. Paul made motion to accept the report, June seconded and motion
carried.
Pastor’s Report – Confirmation class will be meeting once a month from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. on a Sunday evening. The first class will be October 12 at First Lutheran. The CMB (Cooperative Ministry Board) met for the first time on September 30. They will try to meet weekly. They went with staffing recommendations from the LIP Study Group. There will be a partnership page every Sunday for all 3 church bulletins. The tri-councils and CMB will meet in St. Paul’s basement from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. on October 6. Pastor Schibler will talk about the call process.
Committees – Worship did not meet. Education did not meet, but Grandparents Sunday was reported to be on Sunday, October 5. There will be a lunch after worship to benefit the camp kids. Property did not meet, but Eric Goodman looked at the parsonage roof and reported it should be replaced next year. Jeff McDermott looked at the garage door and openers at the parsonage because they were not working properly. Stewardship did not meet, but it was reported $274.18 was given to Wyandot Cares. Evangelism did not meet, but reported that Confirmation/Reunion Sunday will be on October 26 with a meal following worship.
Old Business – Merle will be in charge of turning off lights and locking the doors at the church. The banners were taken down.
New Business – Some questions from the CMB were discussed about worship times and would churches be willing to change. Also what would be helpful in the transition period. Discussion on the parsonage phone resulted in a motion to disconnect the phone completely. This motion was made by June and Paul seconded it. Motion carried. Michelle brought up that she is not comfortable with all the taxes that need to be done. Bill made a motion for Michelle to check into professional help for the taxes at least thru the interim pastor’s time. June seconded the motion and motion carried.
Upcoming Events – October 12 – Pulpit exchange with Pastor Hamilton
at North Salem. July 21-26, 2009 is the Gathering in New Orleans. Kids
going from North Salem are Kolby Holloway, Adam Conley, Amanda Conley,
Logan Black, Dominique Ebert, and Samantha Ebert. Beth and Jeff McDermott
will be chaperones. The next council meeting will be on Wednesday, November
5 at 7:00 pm. at the church. Beth will have devotions. All closed with
the Lord’s Prayer.

North Salem Church Council met for a short meeting on Sunday, October
19 after worship to appoint a call committee to join with the other 2 churches
in the call process. Those being selected are Linda Kroeger-Baum, Arden
Mittermaier, and Melissa Lee. Melinda Getz will be an alternate.
Council members in attendance were Bill, June, Merle, Denny, Denise,
Darlene, Beth and Rodney.

North Salem Church Council met on Wednesday, August 6 at 7:00 pm. with
Paul Baum, Denise Orwick, Beth McDermott, June Eier, Rodney Lieb, Darlene
Mooney, Michelle Conley, Bill Schmidt, Dennis Kimmel, Merle Goodman, Lyle
Weaver and Pastor Andrea in attendance. The only person unable to attend
due to illness was Carolyn Fruth. Devotions were given by Denny on “Streams
of Living Water”.
The secretary’s minutes were gone over and one spelling was corrected. Lyle made a motion to accept as corrected. Bill seconded and the motion carried. The financial report was given by Michelle. The expenses were double the income due to social security payments, as well as pension, payroll taxes, parsonage property taxes and insurance on the church. Rodney reported on the Memorial/Building funds. Paul made a motion to accept the reports. Merle seconded and the motion carried.

Dates to remember are August 10 – Jr. High trip to Columbus Zoo and
water park
August 10 – Forum after worship at North Salem
August 17 – Sr. High movie and pizza night from 6 to 9 at youth room
at St. Paul’s
August 24 – Pastor Henry will lead the worship at North Salem
August 24 – Family Fun Night beginning at 4:00 pm.
August 31 – Joint LIP Worship at North Salem at 10:00 am.
September 17 – Combined forum with all three congregations
CHAMPS and JUMP will start up in October
New member class in November
Committee Reports – Worship met on Monday, August 4 and picked out hymns
for several months. Also discussed having a joint worship meeting with
First and St. Paul.
Education met at Ellis Lake on Sunday, July 27 with discussion on Rally
Day which will be September 7. There will be a brunch on August 17,
on September 21 will be a lunch for the youth for camp, on October 5 is
Grandparent’s Day and also talked about doing a mentor program. Property
reported that Peacock will deliver the water coolers, the dehumidifiers
are in and it was discussed about putting a mail receptacle or box at the
church, Stewardship did not meet but Denise reported there would be a sister
congregation in the works. Evangelism did not meet.
Old Business – Lyle will be responsible for locking doors and turning off lights at the church for the month of August. Lawn mowers will be covered under workers compensation. A motion was made by Lyle to accept the Child Protection Policy as written. Denise seconded and the motion carried. There will be a grandfathering clause looked at at a latter date.
New Business – There was an evaluation committee that met with Pastor Andrea. Everyone received a copy of the Cong/Interim Agreement and Covenant. Rodney made a motion to accept this agreement. Beth seconded and the motion carried. Paul gave a report from the Synod Assembly. Denny gave a report on a Wyandot Cares Meeting he attended. They are in need of financial help. North Salem has budged $800.00 towards Wyandot Cares for this year. The council members all agreed to have a special offering on September 7 to be able to help them out more. The rest of the month there will be “noisy offerings”.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 3 with Rodney giving devotions.

North Salem Church Council
On Sunday July 20, the North Salem Church Council met after church for a short meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to decide what was to be done with the proposal the LIP Study Group presented to the Tri-Council on July 13. A motion was made by Carolyn Fruth to present the proposal to the congregation with several forums set up to discuss the proposal before a vote would be taken. Paul Baum seconded the motion and motion carried by a show of hands. A letter will be sent to church members to make them aware of when these forums will be and where. Those present for this meeting were Michelle Conley, Bill Schmidt, Carolyn Fruth, Paul Baum, Darlene Mooney, Merle Goodman, June Eier, Denny Kimmel and Beth McDermott. Those not attending were Denise Orwick, Rodney Lieb and Lyle Weaver. Also discussed was a possible problem with the septic system.

North Salem’s Church Council met on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 7:00
pm. at the church. Those in attendance were Carolyn Fruth, Beth McDermott,
Michelle Conley, Bill Schmidt, Denny Kimmel, and Pastor Andrea Starn. Those
not attending were Paul Baum, Denise Orwick, June Eier, Rodney Lieb, Darlene
Mooney, Merle Goodman and Lyle Weaver. Bill had devotions on “growing in
Faith – there is only one God”.
The minutes and financial reports were gone over but there was not
enough in attendance to make motions to accept them. Rodney attended long
enough to give a building, memorial and educational funds report.
Pastor gave her report. High school camping deadline is July 3. If
there is not enough to go it will be cancelled. Bible School will be held
the week of July 7-11 with two sessions. Pastor Andrea will be at the Cleveland
Clinic on August 19-20. Pastor Julianne will be covering for her. On July
19, Pastor Andrea will have been here for a year. There will be an Evaluation
Committee formed to meet with her to go over the year. August 31 will be
a Joint LIP Service and will be held at North Salem. Time will be changed
back to Worship at 10:00 am. and Sunday School at 9:00 am. on September
7.
Committees have not met so there were no reports.
Old Business – Bill will be in charge of locking church doors and turning
off lights for the month of July. The youth made around $700.00 from the
fundraising meal after the Joint LIP service. Discussion was held on when
the water fountains would be uninstalled and the new drinking water system
would be installed. The Child Protection Action was tabled. Discussion
was held on the organist position.
New Business – The septic system and air conditioning was looked at
by Bill. He thought they looked OK. Several items were discussed on Worker’s
Comp., Wyandot Cares, and Columbia Gas. Nothing could be decided since
there was not enough members in attendance.
Upcoming dates – Youth Gathering participants will have an outing at
Liz Hunter’s from 3 to 6:00 pm. on July 13. Also on July 13 the Tri-Council
and LIP Board Meeting will meet at St. Paul’s from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. with
a meal and Kathy Schibler will be in attendance. August 24 will be Family
Fun Night at North Salem. Confirmation and Reunion Sunday will be on October
26. The next council meeting will be on Wednesday, August 6 at 7:00 pm.
