The first two Crazy Quilt Banners were made to the glory if God for the many blessings God has given to the people of North Salem Lutheran Church.  They were made for the celebration of our 145th year anniversary since the church was founded in 1850.

Crazy quilting can be defined as a method of laying down of bits and pieces of fabric in a haphazard fashion and sewing or appliquéing them to a whole cloth.  After the whole cloth is completely covered, each  seam is covered with decorative details and embroidery stitches.  There are two examples:  1: Pieces are sewn onto a single large backing, 2: Small squares which are sewn together to make a large piece.
The material used is the old paraments from Bethany and North Salem.  There are all kinds of embroidery stitches, metallic stitches, lace, buttons, beads, crochet stitches, tatting, appliqués used in the construction of these banners.  These banners took one and one half years to make.

The third Crazy Quilt Banner (Holy Holy Holy) was completed in 2006.
