This banner is made on purple felt for the Lenton Season, the color of mourning, expressing sorrow and penitence for sin.  The palm branch made of green felt symbolizes Christ's triumphant ride into Jerusalem.  The palm tree was regarded as sacred from early Semitic times and it's branches were carried by the Jews as a sign of triumphant rejoicing and victory.  The word, "Hosanna," is made of pink felt, the pink a color of rejoicing.  The banner is completed with gold fringe at the bottom.
