During these last months our church committees and our council have
been taking time to develop a strategy for our mission here at North Salem.
This statement of mission is intended to be a guide as we work this year
in service to our Lord. Here is the statement:
Grounded in the ministry of Word and Sacrament,
our mission strategy for the next year is to reach out to inactive members,
identify possible new members and strengthen our joint youth and family
ministry with St. Paul’s Lutheran and First Lutheran.
Goals and objectives:
Identify, welcome and equip five
new members.
Increase church attendance by an
average of five people each week
Identify inactive members and re-establish
contact with them.
Continue to support and take leadership
in our LIP ministry
Pursue the possibility of joint worship
opportunities.
Discussion has already begun in council in our different committees
as to how this might be achieved. Our first objective is to gather
the names of those people in our community who would be interested in becoming
members of North Salem. Pre-membership gatherings will then be scheduled
to help orient new people to our faith, our denomination, our church and
its members. If you know somebody, or are somebody yourself, who
might be interested in becoming a member – please see Pastor Schmidt or
a member of our church council.
God has given us the grace to be his church here at North Salem.
Let us reach in service to him, as we do the work of his ministry here.
