Have you been wondering what’s happening with the Wyandot County Vietnam
Memorial that seemed to be in the news a lot, last year? After all the
flyers, news articles, radio and television spots, after all the motorcycles
left and everything was packed up and moved on, things slowed down a bit!
Now you’re thinking “So how are we going to top what happened last year”
The
County’s Vietnam War Memorial is scheduled to be dedicated later this
spring. The stone has been cut and is now being etched with all the names
provided to the Wyandot County Veteran’s Service Office. The Vietnam
Traveling Wall committee is making every effort to make the monument appear
as it was in all previously printed media plenty of work remains to be
completed.
The
monument will be placed at
Bicentennial
Park on
North Sandusky Avenue
(State Route 53 North) in
Upper Sandusky. The foundation has been
poured, but a new wider sidewalk will lead you to the monument from the
street. Additional flag poles are in place, electrical work and landscaping,
needs to be finished prior to dedication of the memorial.
If
you or your organization has not had to opportunity to be a part of this
memorial to the men and women that served in and during The Vietnam
Conflict, and still would like to donate, please do so as there is still a
need for funding to make this monument complete in every detail to show the
pride
Wyandot
County has for its
veterans.
