Crawford Monument

The original Crawford Monument was erected in 1877 in memory of Col. Wm. B. Crawford who had led the Sandusky Expedition sent to quiet the Indian skirmishes in the West.  Crawford was captured and brought back to the spot near where the monument stands.  There he and some of his men were killed.  Crawford was burned at the stake.  In 1994 a new monument was erected and dedicated in Ritchey Cemetery.

The William Crawford Memorial Park is a small park on the side of State Route 199 about 7 miles north of Upper Sandusky.
